If there wasn't but one name brand of fishing line on the market, what would be the brand of choice for all around fishing regardless of poundage?

i would have to say power pro, you can't go wrong with it, it isn't very abraision resistant around rocks, but then again, theres not many rocks where i fish, it mostly logs and vegetation

Welcome to the BOC from Alton, Illinois. My choice would be Power Pro for braid, and probably Ande for mono. Good luck.

I don't play with braid very much (that's going to change soon), but for one all around general purpose line, it's pretty hard to beat good old Stren Original in Clear/Blue. I've been using it since the first time I watched Bill Dance's show 25 years ago and it's never let me down. My only problem with it is that you can't get the Original in anything heavier than 30lb test now.

Ande is a very close second for me, if I could get it in clear/blue it would be perfect.

I've been playing with Silver Thread AN40 for the past season, and the jury is still out on it. Some days I love it, some days I hate it.

For a cheaper line, I've had great results with the Bass Pro Excel, in clear/blue of course.

Orignal Stren and Stren High Impact have been good to me. I do like Power Pro ok (can't pick just one....)

I'd be happy with Big game...
Last year, I found some mono called Quattro, in 30#, and I think it's tougher than anything else I've ever used, but, it's not real common.

Trilene is the most consistent line of the name brands.

    I'm going to go with:
"Sufix" as my Braid & "Stren" as my mono. :0a23:
