Just purchased my fishing permits for freshwater and trout waters in VA. They went up to 18 dollars for each this year. Used to be 12.50 for each. Most you guys probably already know just a reminder for those who didn't.

The other change is the license is good for a year from the date of purchase. I believe this is the first increase since 1987.

I broke down and bought my lifetime license and put an end to having to renew, worry if it got wet etc. They have a choice of prints on them and are made just like a credit card. You can get a duplicate for a small fee if you lose it or somehow destroy it.

It is $255.00 up to age 44. Then it gets cheaper as you get older.

Sure thing, that is a good price, I may just wait a few years until it gets cheaper.

Not me :-( Though I still have a few years to go before the discount price starts. I guess, though if I can catch a fish the weighs the same as my age, I'd be pretty happy.

I was throwing around the idea of getting a lifetime license, but the cost is a major commitment. You gotta be sure you're a VA boy for the rest of your life. I plan on staying, but you never know. So I decided to just do the annual thing. Sucks the price went up, but doesn't surprise me.

you do realize that 255 divided by 18 dollars is only 14 years? Even if they don't change the fee, you will pay for 14 years of fishing but fish the REST OF YOUR LIFE FOR FREE!! If you get as old as Rebcatman says HE is, you'll understand 14 yrs. is not long LOL!!

Just think, some people pay a guide upwards of $250.00 for one day of fishing and still have to have their individual licenses. I think its a bargain for most of us. The peace and happiness is worth much more than we pay in $$$ just to be out on the rivers. I don't mean to step on any toes, but we are lucky to have these trophy fisheries at our disposal. Lots of folks think that a 3-5lb catfish is really something. This is just my .02 cents on the subject. Hope to see some of you on the water soon---jonnycat
