well rob ( duck alot )

just called me and fished below the dam to a few miles down river last night

he said caught around 25 to 30 fish 2 in 20s and 1 mid 30s with sevral 3 to 15s

He found shad in the main channel and in coves and good in the coves after dark .

the water was running hard he said and took 12 to 16 ounces to hold close to the dam .

Im sure he has a few pics to share with us all later after he wakes up this afternoon .

way to go rob congrats buddy !!!!

Thanks Scotty, we had a pretty good night. Fish seem to be scattered and we moved around a lot some times only catching one or two fish per anchor. We caught the most fish down stream on a shallow mud flat on cut shad, Our biggest fish were caught on channel ledges with live shad.
And for those who are interested, All fish were released.

Bait is still easy to get in the harbor or about any of the coves close to dark. Good luck to every one fishing,if they leave the water on take your big lead if you plan to fish in town. Hope everyone has a Great Memorial Weekend
Be Safe,
Rob

Aint that the truth adam. Maybe we can get the ol boy off of the outdoor channel who has that show called gold fever and do some dredging or somethin. I would sure like to see all the lead that the rock banks and bottoms have eaten up over the years.

I had hoped to get down this week, but looks like it'll be Mon/Tues. The conditions should still be good, but these storms have been rough up here. Any ideas?
mike many people over look fishing the dead channel for cats from a boat or off the docks

when the hard water has been running the way it has for several weeks now ive done really good at times spidder rigging out of a boat with live bait in the dead channel ,
also friends of my dads caught some really nice flatheads just fishing off the docks a 57 lber was caught last year off the end dock with a few 20s and 30s

so if not much action fishin out in the current for ya might try it .

the shad,, crappie, white bass really pile up in it when the water is running hard for several weeks ,, only draw back is alot of gar also .

with the warm water temps we have now carp and buffalo and drum are a good bait to sometimes even better then shad for the larger fish .

good luck mike and catch some biggens !!!!

Fished below the dam Wednesday. Got caught in the storm, but ducked into a cove and rode it out. Once it passed, we anchored in several places, nearly caught pneumonia with the cold rain and wind, but didn't catch many fish. A few small blues, a channel, and plenty of drum. Once the sun came out, we warmed up, but the fishing cooled off. Fished above the dam for crappie on Thursday...caught some fish, but it was slow. Once the sun popped out, the bite turned off completely. Got enough fillets for a small fish fry, but no leftovers!

I know they all don't spawn/nest at once, but the reports have slowed down considerably this week and through the last holiday weekend. With the round the clock water flow for ten plus days things should be right, but maybe all the water put them in rapid switch-fire spawn mode!!! LOL I was planning on staying home this weekend but I may have to buzz down and see for myself!!!!!!!!
