i fished the saluda about a mile below the dam that is in pelzer on highway 8 this afternoon...fished for about 3 hrs from the bank in several different spots...the only bait i had was shrimp and i got several bites but no hook ups...the cats in there are masters at stealing bait...talked with 2 guys that were launching a boat and they said there are a few channels in that part of the river but most cats are bull heads about 12 inches long or less and they catch them on crickets...i was surprised by the amount of current in the river though...i had to use 2 oz. wieghts to hold bottom otherwise the smaller weights would roll across the bottom until they got snagged on something and then i would be re-tying my whole rig.

There in there just use the right bait. You know the kind, the kind that vanishes every now and then.
