I took a "tour" of the local fish hatchery this past week when they were draining one of thier channel cat broodstock ponds. Super cool!! Tons of fish in the 8 to 12 lb range and several around 15 lbs. Took some pics and heard they released two albinos close to home. One was 18 lb and the other was 23 lb!!! They also moved a small flathead to a different pond for the winter. It was about 5 lb and one of the guys said they moved it last yr too and it was about half that size. They're not sure how it got in the ponds. Must've come in when it was fry sized and they were filling the ponds. Here's a couple pics when they were draining the pond and sorting the fish.

Thats awesome. when I was to young to work legally, I did volunteer work at the local trout hatchery. That was interesting. Those cats make me wanna throw a fish fry.

Thanks for sharing the pics and the info, I always wondered how those fish hatcheries work.
