Weighing smaller fish by the lip is no big deal but after a fish gets over 30 pounds there can be problems. There's lots of people here that practice CPR but weighing a 50 to 75 pound fish by the lower jaw you may end up killing it, thus defeating the purpose of catch and release. I've been using these thick plastic slip sheets to drag my deer out of the woods for a few years now. They work great and decided to make one for weighing any really large fish that I might return to the water. These slip sheets are the size of a pallet in fact that's what there used for is placing between products and pallet for shipping. I do nothing special except put four grommet holes in each corner and some braided line to hook the fish to the scale. It's small enough to fold and roll up and not take up any room or weight for that matter.
