We went down river about half way to Richardson bridge and camped on a sand bar Sat nite. Fish were tearing it up. We used cut shad and caught a bunch. We kept 6 and are cooking them up tuesday nite. The one in the pic was the biggest, weighed 27 lbs on my berkley digital(held by my Bro-In-Law)
We cooked up some burgers and dogs, set some limb lines, fished and watched the beautiful night sky. Slept on the sand bar under God's watchful eye and forgot all the rest of the world for a while. The old Neuse is therapy sometimes.

Even if you didn't catch anything that sounds like a great time to me.

Know that area well. Have not fished it a few years, but have caught some nice fish from that area.
Is there any water in ther now?

It's a blue, I personally have never seen channels over 6-8 pounds.
Water is very skinny now, better ring the 4wheel drive boat :)

Fished the Neuse this past weekend in Smithfield with a friend. River was low. Caught a striper around 5lbs not far past Black Creek, and went about halfway to Richardsons Bridge and caught 2 blues. 7lb and 22lb. There are some nice lookin spots the further you go down river. Doesnt get fished that much at all. Just a matter of time before the next record is pulled from the Neuse.

It doesnt get fished a lot because it's so dang hard to get anywhere in the summer. By next year, I am going to have a new jon and jet outboard. Cats beware, this is your last year of safety:big_smile:
