Me and a friend actually went ice fishing today trying to catch some catfish. Ended up with a crappie, 2 bluegills and this 4# 15oz Channel cat caught on an ultra-light outfit with 2# test Vicious Fishing Line and a huge waxworm.

No, it was from a farm pond not far from Spencer. We do catch a lot of nice cats at Spencer though.

    Good job man!
How long were you guys out there before getting any action?
I was contemplating going fishing a couple of times last week, Caesars Creek Lake wasn't frozen too badly, but the *experts* (my brother and boyfriend), both of whom I put to shame by outfishing (cats) last summer, told me that you can't catch channels this time of year.
    Well, apparently they can't.
They told me, if anything, to go bass fishing.
    Bass fishing?
    What's that?
    I'm a Catfisherman!

Like I've heard here, if it aint got whiskers, it must be bait!

channel cat fishing can be mighty hot at this time of the year, esp. after ice out! All them dead shad put them cats into a feeding frenzy! sounds like you may want to leave the bass fishing to them and go catch a stringer of them big bass with whiskers:wink: rollo
