Took a young man out this morning to try to get him something larger than a 3lb bass, his largest fish so far. I think we succeeded. Got him on this flathead, the first I’ve caught on Watts Bar Lake in East Tennessee. My scale showed it at 32.3 pounds. Caught suspending cut bluegill in 61 foot of water. I was so excited. Getting a flathead was high on my hopes for this summer. Just had to share. Equipment was a Penn no 9 spooled with 80lb Kast king braid, Berkeley Big Game MH rod, 50lb Berkeley Big Game leader, 8/0 Whisker Seeker triple threat hooks, 8 oz egg sinker.
