Me and SangamonCatKiller went out fishing 4-15 and the river was pretty high, he took one of the normal fishing holes, and I went down river a little bit and found a flooded nook that went back about 200yds. I forgot to turn my airator on so I had 2 live gills. 1 live chub and 4 dead gills. But I saw carp splashing around everywhere. And on Day On The River they were talkin about the same situation. I hooked A dead gill through the eyes cut off the tail, made a slit down the intestents, and scalled both sides, then through it at th mouth of the nook. Then I through a live bluegill out in the main river. About a half-hour later I seen the rod tip bouncing a little(On the dead cut-up bluegill)and It was all slack water and I figured it was a channel tring to fit it into it's mouth, as I was getting my rod out of the holder I can feel more tension so I set the hook and I get him in after a 40sec. fight. He measured 43" long 25" girth and weighed 30lbs. About a half-hour later I hook up with another monster about 10yd. from where I caught the last one, on a live gill but it got off  . But I was happy to catch the first one. It's the biggest fish Ive ever caught. This is only my second year flathead fishing, and for a small river thats a monster.
