First flathead catfish (i think its a flat at least). Small one but im still happy :)

    Well i got my first flathead, well i think it is. Got it on sunfish head. Hes a small little guy but im still happy to get my first flattie. Got him juggin, which was my first time jug fishing also. Now i want some big mammas.(by the way, any suggestions geting the hook out when they basicily swollow it?)

    Congrats on the catch. I wouldn't swear it is a flathead though. Kinda looks like a bullhead to me. Can't really tell in that pic.

    does maybe look like a bullhead.......was it caught in a river/ lake / or pond? small flatheads do resemble bullheads.......put a finger in his mouth, if he tries to snap on your finger he is most likely a bullhead......

    thanks, ive got bullheads before and the first thing i thought when i saw it was flathead, hopefully he was:roll_eyes:

    Judging from the yellow on the belly I would have to say you got a bullhead there. Now clip his fins off and use it for bait.

    do bullheads have the sharp hard "stingers" on their fins liek channels i cant remember. Because this thing didnt them that i notice, and i was grabin it all over, if that helps at all

    Kind of looks like a flattie.If caught in the river it most likely is.Now go get it's grandma/or pa.

    If the bottom jaw is out past the top jaw...its a flathead. A pic of the fish side ways and fins spread out would be best.

    Oh and yes they have spines in their pectoral and dorsal fins.

    hate to break to heart but I would thats a bull head. A flatheads bottom lip will stick out more than his top. also a flatties head is alot slimmer than that one.

    Thats a bullhead with a flat head. If the bottom jaw is really extended beyond the top it would be a flatty.
