A friend and I went saugeye fishing today and took along some very smelly small frozen shad and minnows ... About 15 minutes after we started I got a 3 pound channel on the shad ... no saugeyes and friend got one small crappie. We fished Buckeye and the wind started out almost from the north and whipped around and ended up coming from SE with gusts of probably 30 mph. Saw a couple real small saugeyes and several strippers about 5 to 7 pounds. The lake is still a couple of feet. We were bank fishing so don't know what the water temps were ...... Garry-

Another year rolls around and you've still got it Garry!

I know that they'll be the first of many in 2009.

    Happy Fishing!

Congrats. I have been out a few times on GMR and park ponds with nothing yet, besides smallies, had one take a bluegill head at a park pond Wednesday but wasn't paying attention and missed it. I was practicing my cast net throw and testing for shad at the pond when it took my line out about 20 feet in a matter of a minute or so, no turtle for sure. Thought I had one Sunday in the cold and rain on the GMR near West Carrolton and turned out to be about a 5 pound smallmouth that really struggled on a 9 foot cat rod after taking a 5 inch creek chub. :eek:oooh: Thought for sure it was my first cat until it's golden brown body was about 3 feet from shore.
