Almost finished making this slate over glass call for my brother. The pot is from a chunk of African Padauk wood. The striker is osage orange with a neat piece of sycamore for the top. Only finish it's getting is several hand rubbed coats of teak oil. Brother doesn't like poly and other glossy finishes.
Thanks, don't think I'll be selling any. Make 'em when I have spare time, which isn't often. And I would like to get bold and start adding more detail to the calls rather than the same old flat sides I've been doing.
I still have the bait/fillet knife you made me last year. You would prob enjoy making calls once you get your dimensions right.Took me several attempts to get it to sound good. Mostly dialing in on the height of the soundboard pedestal so it wasn't too sharp or too flat and get the "roll-over" in the yelps just right. Then starting over when I changed to a different playing surface or soundboard...lol
That's incredible! Very fine craftsmanship there! How long does it take to make a call like that? Days, weeks, months lol.
