after my last 5 outings of gettin skunked i was fishin the big blue north of tuttle today and had tons of bites, and finally got me a good cat, they wouldnt touch shad, but were biting on worms, my avatar is the pic of the fish, didnt have a scale to see how much it weighed, but heres a pic of the comparison, my son weighs 8 lb 1 oz,,, the fish was a little heavier.

Starting to wake up out on the lakes it seems. Won't be long now. If you
have access to small lakes and ponds, the water will tend to warm just
a few days faster in them than in the really big lakes. Look for things to
get more interesting when the water temps start to hit 50deg.Fahrenheit!

Jeff the water temp at Perry two weeks ago was 48-49 degrees. Then with the cold front last week it was only 42.7 degrees this past weekend.

It sould get back up to that 50 degree range by this weekend.:tounge_out:

Look out, these cats are going to go nuts by this weekend.

If anyone is waiting to make their 1st trip of the yr they better be out on the water this weekend.

I fished milford all day sat, three of us, we parked in a number of different spots rangin anywhere from 30ft to 2 ft deep... fishing wind blow shorelines from wakefield clear to milford... water temps were 42 by milford to 45 by wakefield.... three of us running 8 rods, all with fresh cut shad, livers, worms, and some funky homeade concoction (buddy had it), maybe it wasnt our day but we couldnt buy a bite... only palce we didnt try was north of causeway....

Sounds like you covered the lake.

The bite was slower for me last weekend also but we caught fish.

It wont be long and we will be hauling them in.

Just keep pounding the banks with fresh shad and your luck will change.

Ya i hit ever major point, flat, and hole along the way... Tried every type of structure i could find from timber, to rocks, to sand bottoms to mud flats... wow is the lake down up by wakefield... usual spots seemed about 3-4 ft low... but then again i got used to the high water we've had the past few years... corps site said lake was only 2 ft under conservation level... marked a ton of fish including several large schools of shad... (used throw net to verify that one, had a bet with a friend), but in milford who knows what trash fish your marking... we plan on hittin it strong again this weekend... we still have about 8dz live shad ready to go....

i fished milford for the last 5 1/2 hrs, and hit every windy bank i could find, with not so much as a nibble, had livers, worms and fresh cut shad, i think im just doomed to never catch a fish out of there. but i dont have work till monday so im probably gonna hit it again every day until then, see if my luck changes. I'll keep yall posted.

It was nil for us here today too:sad2:. Especially after the wind died to dead calm. I was going to head out this evening too, but as calm as it was, and the calendar on "terrible", I might give it a try tomorrow.
Katatonic is supposed to come tomorrow, but I think I'll ask him to reschedule till the middle of next week.

well nothin tonight had one really good bite but it didnt commit, and Jim i seen you post about curtis creek a few times so i swung by there to check it out earlier cause i aint been there in like 2 years, saw two guys sittin on the boat ramp so i went to ask if they were havin any luck and one pulled out a 5 lb channel when i was mid sentence. i think im gonna give it a try up near wakefield tomorrow and see if i cant pull somethin out up there.
