S_Man i one hundred percent agree. The lake i caught that big one in i fished there for seven years, heard many stores about the "Big fish" in the lake and have thrown everything except cut or live bait at them and never got a bite...

In the first 5 minutes of fishing with cut bait i had both poles with fish on them. That will be all i use in the future when looking for the bigger cats!

LOL, I was the same way here on the river, Always using liver or worms for years and never caught one catfish in 20 years. The first night I went out with live gills I caught 4 flatheads and 2 channels, or maybe it was 3 flatheads?... Anyway they were all 5lbs or under but it was the best night of catfishing I'd had in all my 30 yrs up til then. Make sure to use at least one big live gill or shad just to cover all your bases.

You can't go wrong with fresh cut bait. Fresh is the operative word... if it ain't bleeding, it ain't fresh!
