Now it's nothing too big, but after about three weeks of sitting without a single fish brought in, I caught my new PB flathead, 23 pounds. Of course my buddy had to out do me and catch a 27 pound blue. Oh well, at least we're catching some fish and having some good bites now on the Missouri. Bring on the big boys!

It's going to start to get interesting now, we've got a competition through the rest of the season, probably through September or October, to see who can put up the most cats over 20 pounds. Winner of the bank line contest gets a new Ugly Tiger Stik and winner of rod and reel contest gets $70 toward a new reel. I'm ahead in the bank lines, he's ahead in the rod and reel. Wish me luck!

It's funny how flatheads can be deceiving, my fish looks bigger in the pic, but weights four pounds less!

Mine was on a bank line, his was on rod and reel.

***both set free to fight another day!

And I'm pretty sure that wasn't the 18th street spot? It's way down the river from Atchison, sort of close to Iatan.

And the water is actually pretty stable, definitely down from the past few weeks, though.

Congrats on two nice fish. Don't worry about the flatty looking bigger. My personal experience is a blue will weigh more than a flatty of about the same size. A channel the same size will out weigh them both.
