Help. I have a 1989 evinrude 88 spl that is not charging. I'm sure the charging system is simple to diagnosis on these things but I know nothing about how to test them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Test the recetfier to see if its bad. If you don't have the manuel do a search in the repair section here and it should come up as I have posted it a couple times.

If you find that it's the rectifier, get it fixed or completely eliminate it, and you'll have to keep charging your battery.

To keep running with a bad rectifier might cause severe damage to the wiring from severe over heating.

Thanks guys!! Turns out the rectifier was bad. $30 later and I'm ready to go.
