everything is ready to go except my power trim doesn't seem to work. how easy and costly is it to replace the motor on one of these?

I'd think it is easier to just check the assembly out first. Does it run in either up or down direction? Can you hear the contacts? Have you checked the fuse? If the motor runs but the motor does not move, check the fluid level.

Think you basically have four wires... red (power), black (Ground), Blue (Down) and Green (up). Connect the black to the ground terminal on the battery or a ground bus bar if so equipped. Connect a red wire to the positive side of the battery. Touch the red wire to either green or blue. Did the motor work? If it doesn't work on either wire, it is burned our or shorted. Take it to an automotive alternator/starter shop and see if they can rebuild it...normally run about $50.00. If you have to buy one, sell the farm to get enough money. LOL
