We Caught a ton of channel cats over the weekend. I fished Clear Lake over the weekend with my buddy Shawn. We fished hardcore from Friday at noon until Sunday at 10:30am. Did anyone notice the heat this weekend in Northern California. It was crazy hot. I can’t ever remember drinking so much or sweating so much over a two day period in my life. For whatever reason, things happened in 3’s on this trip. On 9 different occasions, one of us would catch 3 fish in a row and then the other person would break the streak with a fish of their own.

Shawn with a beautiful specimen of a fish. It put up an epic battle and Shawn is no longer a virgin to the monsters of Clear Lake.

A very nice fish caught at 12:45am Saturday morning.

A little blurry, but a nice fish none the less.

Two more nice fish caught very close together. It’s barely morning and it’s already hot.

Here is the big fish for Saturday night caught at anchor.

Shawn with a beautiful male channel cat. He would break his personal best several times on this trip.

These twin 8 pounders were part of a double header. Gotta love when both of your rods go off.

All in all we had an epic weekend on the water. The fishing, food, company, and tunes were all excellent. We brought along my IPOD and when I looked at it at the end of the trip it indicated that we listened to 372 songs for the weekend. That’s a lot of music. We went through well over 100 pieces of bait during the trip. The skin on my thumbs & knuckles is torn and battered from dealing with abrasive catfish mouths all weekend. But, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

A few more stats for the weekend:
Total fish put in the boat = 57
Total combined weight = 365 pounds
    Average weight = 6.40 lbs
    16.9 ounce water bottles consumed = 62
Dry Ice used to keep everything cold = 26 pounds
