I was just wondering what you used to handle your email. I have used my internet provider accounts before but the one I use most is my Yahoo account. I like it because it doesn't change if I get ticked off and change my isp. I also like the fact that I don't have to download anything to my computer unless I want to. What do you like about the one you use?

I also use my name in my address, gregrettigatyahoodotcom, and I've had some folks say they were scared to do that. What do ya'll think?

I like yahoo also. I tried AOL for about 3 months and hated it, since switching to roadrunner service a few years back yahoo is all I use. As for using your name I don't but I think like most things in life it is a personal choice.

I think yahoo or hotmail either one works a lot better then a servers email and as said before if you change servers you keep the same email address.

AOL tried to keep charging me, even though I had cancelled my account. So, I called the bank, told them someone had removed my check book from my car, and they had to start a new account for me free of charge. AOL sent me a letter telling me they were going to cancel my already cancelled subscription. I called them and told them to "have a nice day". But the poor guy in India didn't seem to quite understand.

I've had the same yahoo email for over 6 years now. I have one more through cox cable as a back up. Its always good to have a backup!

I use my local phone company as a provider, and they have a very good spam/junk mail filter. What they don't get, my outlook express filter kicks out. Almost never get any spam or porno, so I'm happy. Now, if they will just hurry up with the DSL they've promised.....

Hey Big Brother, what are you not sure about? I'm talking about your regular email not the private message (pm) system we have here at the Brotherhood. Is that it?

I use my cable server for my personal mail. They have a great spam filter for it usually doesn't download the spam to me... the spam stays at the server for 7 days, then deletes. If any spam gets downloaded to me Thunderbird mail sends it to the junk folder.

As far as the free internet mail... I've used hotmail, yahoo and for the last couple years been using gmail. I dropped hotmail many years ago and yahoo when gmail came out. Gmail has the best spam filter I've seen from the free ones. All spoof mail goes to the spam folder, gmail adds a red banner across the message giving a warning not to reply. I like gmail better than any free one I've used.

Myself... I wouldn't let AOL get close to my computer or even close to my house.

Big Brother, I thought of something else that might be giving you trouble. I replaced (@) with at and (.) with dot to make it harder for spam robots to pick it up.

If that don't clear it up for you let me know.

My main account was with my dial-up isp. I changed to high speed dsl, but have moved everything over to a yahoo account I had as a backup, mainly for storing emails on the net rather than my computer. I've recently opened a backup account at Lycos.com. My wife has an account there, been with Lycos for 7 or 8 years, and is satisfied. Some places will not accept hotmail emails, especially some schools, she's a teacher, so...

I use Yahoo also and like the way it is set up.

If you have ever had AOL and deleted it, you may want to do a search and type in AOL, you may be surprised at how many files that AOL still has on your computer. When I deleted AOL from my programs, I did a search and found close to 50 or 60 files still on my computer from AOL.

Well it depends on how much of a secure account you want. I use Yahoo also and Gmail for secure accounts because you have to be invited to get a gmail account and if you invite someone or more then one and they find you or any of the people you invited are spammer's then gmail will close all account's linked to you. Well that is my two cent's worth.

I use gmail and I am very satisified. I hate yahoo, I have a yahoo account and its full of spam and junk mail. I hate it, its worthless. I rarely check my yahoo accounts, its a task to empty all the crud before getting to my mail, so I use my gmail!
    I highly recommend it.
