I have just recently replaced coils, head gasket, starter, and had carbs replaced.

I have had a compression test, wich I orignally thought was 140, but
    mechanic said"120" in each cyclinder.

I've had the stator tested it is producing enough
    and the resistance is good.

But on full throttle , iam having a power surge like. something is shorting out?

Are you sure it's electrical and not fuel delivery?

Those adjustments to the carb linkage are really important. I have noticed motors surging when the adjustments were out of tolerence. I think I would look more at the carbs than at the electrical system.

it should have a high speed screw and low speed screw on the carb's... they adjust air/fuel mix at WOT wide open throttle and idle .

high speed says H and idle has a L on it ... You can hurt the motor messing with thease .

if your setup is Oil injected i would check that out first .... it could be leaning out and shutting the motor down.Dose it get hot or fire right up ?

also check the fuel pump diaphram for cracks and buy a vacuum gauge hook it up and put - vac on it and see if it holds.it could be fine at idle but at WOT have a leak and lower the fuel psi for the carbs.

timing is a big one also ... have you had anyone check your motor out for you? I would spend the 75 bucks for someone to tell me 100% what the problem is then go from there .When you start throwing parts at motors thats when it becomes $$$$$$

LOL, I've spent costly , Two boat mechanic's later and a few bucks
later, Iam getting somewhere. Iam putting powerpack on it today.
Last nite went out and run it.Ran FINE, couldn't get it to mess up.
Untill I tapped on power pack with a screwdriver and it acted up.
It would lose power, If I tapped it again , It would kick in power.
I have two more parts to replace untill I have an rebuilt motor.
wich is power pack, and stator.

I have good compression, I have a new head gasket, new coils,
new muffler gasket, new starter, gas tanks, hose's .new control's ,power house was replaced 3 years ago. new plugs, rebuilt carbs. lol Iam about ready to paint it and put new stickers on it now.......boat just got redecked ,and carpet.........

It was looking rough when I started ,and I didn't think I would get this far.but Now I think I can see the light,
she is giving up on the lite she says.lol

An old untermiting firing coil will cause a power pack to go bad. If you can tap that PAC and it starts acting up and then re tap to get it going you have one of two problems, A short in the wiring at the PAC or a bad PAC. I would say the latter. Did you ever stop to think that there are test to perform on PARC's and stators before replacing them

I replaced the pac and On the old one ,where someone
had all the wires tied with an wire tie and they had got
hot and basically melted together.I think age has had alot
to do with everything I've had issue, previous owner didn't take
care of it .SO BUBBAKAT nailed it on the head. wiring short
