any1 know the best way to eat a carp
Yuck, yuck, yuck........LMAO
I have never done it brother, but have a few buddies that have tried it and they like it. But they do make great cut bait!!
1 carp 5 lbs or larger
carrots & potatos
I pine board without knots
salt & peper & butter
Clean carp well. heat oven to 350 degrees. Stuff carp with veggies. Salt & pepper. Good to coat carp with melted butter also.
Place on pine board and baked for 90 min. Remove from oven. Throw away carp and eat the pine board.
Hey Tomcat I have heard of people presure cooking them and then useing it like tuna or salmon. I be you will find something on this in the BOC library
hey Jim, thats what my grandfather use to say
Smoke em or pickel em, Yum Yum!!!!!!!
I've heard of people smoking them, but you won't catch me eating one anytime soon.
That was good Jim, havent heard that one in years. No carp for me thank you very much.!!!!!
Don't know about carp but I'm sure somebody, somewhere, has a Gramma thats knows how to fix it up so it tastes great. This applies to just about all fish and wild game. I know a guy that eats one type of junk fish and he says they are fine as long as you ice them down right after catching them.
I've heard of several ways of preparing them, just don't know if I could make myself try it. Kinda like people eating groundhog or raccoon, ya know.
Check out the BOC library articles or search for recipes for carp.
I reposted the Iraqi Fish Fry for ya. That is how they cook it here in Baghdad. I just as soon eat a 2X4.
I'd go with the Pine board:lol:
Keep 'em alive untill you get ready to clean 'em, cut the tail and let them bleed out the kidney, fillet, trim off all red meat, soak in salt water for a couple of hrs., rinse in fresh water, score every 3/16" or so across the feather bones, dip in Andy's fish meal, deep fry 'em untill they have been floating for a few minutes, serve. This also works for suckers like buffalo, etc.:cool2:
I never ate one but I sure love catching them when nothing is biteing oh i thow them back Or if any one is near by i ask them if they eat them a lot of people do:big_smile:
We get into em' once in awhile at the riverlot but never ate one...ack! I'm sure the Pine Board method is yur best bet! LMAO!!
One mans "junk" is another mans treasure.
I assume you are referring to gar in this post?
i've never had em but i here that therer just tough and hard as a rock. the name carp even sounds like wood doesn't it? well good luck with it and let us know what you think.
I wont put one in my mouth. carp can live in the most polluted stuff you can imagine I bet they just soak up all that stuff.
I never ate one, but I can tell you that they are preferred food fish throughout most of the world. Amereicans are just prejudiced against them for some reason.
