I havent had any success with the throw net this year thus far and this is my first spring knowing how to use one. My question is where is it going to be most effective? River banks or lake shallows? Thanks

Seems like noone is having much luck with the shad this year so far. I usually get my shad out of spillways. My buddy just told me yesterday that the spillway we usually get our shad at is loaded full of big shad now. Thats really the first Ive heard of any!

i have not had much luck with the net either

but it's still early, and it's usually mid april before I get on the shad, water still needs to warm up to bring them in the shallows.

Ohio had a huge shad kill this year. From talking with the ohio hilljack, he is having his best luck in the shallow lake water. This water should be warming more quickly and is accessible from the bank

Im not as seasoned as some here with a throw net, but I seem to do better in the warmer shallows during the spring...rollo
