i use eagle claw and like them as for size depends on what you are after!!!
for big blues and flatheads i use 8/0 for channels i use fro 4/0 down to about a 2/0
I have been using the 3/0 size on my jugs, with good success. My only gripe is that the wire isn't thick enough. I bent a couple the last time i went jugging, they didn't break and weren't bent bad, but they bent all the same. I imagine any change in angle makes the circle hook less efective. I am currently shopping around for different hooks, just having a hard time figuring out which hooks i like best.
I don't like most eagle claw circles. But, the circle sea red ones are thick, and strong. I think they're stronger than the gammas. The part number is L8197F-7/0 for the ones I use mostly. These are 7/0's. They come in bigger or smaller sizes. They wont bend like a gamma either. I sharpen mine though. I dont think they're sharp enough right out of the box.
