I would like to think Big Dave for helping me out on this. I had a question a while back about mounting driftmaster mounts onto my new SeaArk boat. This is what I ended up doing. I tried 3/16 - 1/2 rivets but they would not hold up under the stress of the rod. After speaking with Big Dav I had a better idea what to do. I ordered a thread-setter kit from fastenal tools and then ordered 1/4-20 rivet-nuts. I used a Q sized bit and drilled out my holes for the rivet-nuts, I increased the bolt holes in the mounts to 1/4 inch. The Tool is like a rivet gun and works in the same way but the end result is you end up with a threaded rivet, that you can place a screw into. I did not have to use such a large bolt I could of went smaller. I think I could tow a boat off the rod holders now. Thanks everyone for your help to include ShiloRed
