Just got back. Drifted around the sailboat cove area. I ended up with 5 fish and i lost 2 others. Biggest fish was about 8lbs. Alot of the bites were short but when i used heads they were crushing the poles over. I fished from 1 to 7pm. All five fish were caught on heads.

Channel cats or blues? I've tried up there a couple of times, but I haven't figured out how to catch the blue cats yet.

I caught all channel cats. I have never caught any blues out there. I have seen a couple of them. It was in mid march though. I was using shad head. Do you know if there running any water at the spillway.

I've fished the spillway a couple of times without much luck, what type of bait do you use?

the best catfishing i have had on smithville is the coves with stumps using live shad and perch on floating rigs caught some really nice bass this way also. mostly channels a few blues and 48lb flathead.
