I have never driftfished before. Do you always go with the current and use your trolling motor to steer? Can someone help me out:)

    Thanks!

I usually do what is known as a controlled drift. Which means i 'go with the flow' but use my trolling motor to keep my drift the way i want. For instance, if i am drifitng a ledge i will drift down it and use my trolling motor to keep me on the ledge. I have also trolled upriver with my trolling motor if the current is too strong to get a good slow drift. My biggest suggestion though is to constantly watch your depth finder. u wanna fish a vertical presentation and you constantly have to reel up or let line out as the bottom changes. The greatest feeling in drift fishing though is marking a fish and right after marking it having your pole double over. great feeling! well good luck!!!
