Has anyone tried making a drift rig like a bass fishermans dropshotrig? Weight at the end of the line on a swivel and the hook tied with a palomar knot a foot above that. Seems like less terminal tackle = less chance of break off.

I tie the sinker to my line and then about a foot up or so I tie a dropper loop about 6 inches long and put the loop through the eye of the hook, that way I have a doubled line to the hook and usually if I snag, I only loose the sinker. I do not see why the way you described it wouldn't work.

the rig that cattoon described is the only way i drift for smaller cats, works so good i never try anthing else anymore. i use a 1/0 circle hook a foot above a slinky weight. for big cats i stick to the santee style rig because the hook and dropshot rig seem to twist up bad with bigger baits
