My wife designs ink pens and I make them out of exotic wood or deer antler.

There is always sinkers to pour, hooks to snell or bait to catch.

I have a 1956 18' Lyman Islander wooden lapstrake boat that I'm restoring. When I can't fish, I'm usually tinkering with it.

When I was 18-24 years old my boat trailer might as well have been welded to the truck.
In the summer I was on the water 6 days a week and working fulltime. Ipulled a boat to work. Left work and hit the water. I usually got home around 11PM.
In the winter I would fish 1-3 days a week.
I've beat ice off boat ramps and melted ice with torches to get the boat in and out.

Priorities change so does your brain.

Most folks here don't like wood boats.
    Check this out though.
That Lyman WOOD boat is worth alot more now then when it was new.
    Kinda like American muscle cars.
Try that with a tin boat:smile2:

  14. That's me exactly right now and for the past four years, no joking boss.:eek:oooh:

Something will throw a wrench through the windshield. Trust me.
Seems like my didn't even taper off gradually.
I think fishing kept me pointed in the right direction without question.
    It was beneficial.

The more responsibilites I gained, the ever changing family with giving kids a home to live in and adoptions, it became more of a liability.
The fishing all the time thing was a closed chapter forever.

And you just get smarter and wiser.
Aint no way you'll find me beating ice off nothing to go fishing.
I'll leave that nonsense to the young bucks.

Jake I think you are talking about Cabin Fever. I spend my off water time to replace tackle, Snell hooks, make sinkers, clean and reline reels, clean rods, and repair boats needs. This keeps me busy and there are some pretty days that I will slip out and catch some Crappie form docs.
