What's your best summer time channel cat bait in lakes. Do some baits outperform others in the hot days of summer. Opinions welcome

Tried something my grandpa taught me when I was young...hickory smoked bacon...the cheaper the better...it's been working good for me so far...

Sonnys never fails for me, i just recently took my g/f on her first night fishing trip up at the lake and she out fished me using nothing but sonnys. I was using sonnys as well but i was also using live gills and cut gills.

For those summer time cats, I goto the stink-bait. It out performs every thing else I try. I like using Sonny's, Catfish Charlie and others. I will still use bait like liver and cut-bait. I will not leave home without them. I always experiment to see what the cats want. Cut-bait usually catches the bigger cats, but I've had great success catching nice cats on stink-bait too. I landed a 14# Channel on Sonny's a few years back. That was an awesome morning. 28 Cats on Sonny's and I had cats breaking my 20# test mono from slamming it hard and lost them in the rocks!!

I prefer cut bait. The main reason is because I have a good chance of hooking a blue or flathead also.

Liver and worms are great also..but the turtles love it more.

I got to go with the "Stink-Bait" on this one guys - for the summer time channel cats,
But "Cut-Bait will be a close second for me.

I have luck on all these baits, but when it gets down to the nitty gritty I have to go with the bacon or livers.

Fresh cut bluegill works best for me. I just replace it more often
    with another piece.

Some days i use stink baits other times i perfer to use live sunfish or crawdads.Im blessed with having a lake and a river with in 2 miles of my place so thats were i fish most.Sunfish are easy to catch at the lake by the rocks, crawdads on the other hand have to be seined with the net or traped.I have a hard time getting someone on the other end of the net and a coon tore my minnow trap up.Sonnys is easy to get and use and catches fish on these hot summer days and nights.

Sounds like a good idea. Never used that before. How do you usually rig it?
