Since it has been so hot lately i was wondering if it effected the river fishing at night or early in the morning.

yeah hot temps do affect the fishing in the rivers. best time to fish if from 3 to 6 am. the coldest part of the night is during that time. if you fish under a hydro elec dam, the heat desent affect fish as much for a good couple hundred yards downstream. look for potholes in flat stretches of river. with the heat, and dry of the summer, water levels are usually down quite a bit. look for shoots of the sides of dams. usually there is a big hole there, and shallow all around it. fish sometimes tend to get "locked" inside the pool. they are very easy to catch there.
