does the hummingbird 597 have GPS speedometer

    does the hummingbird 597 ci have a GPS speedometer? or is it the optional "paddel wheel" that attatches to the back of the boat, I would really like for someone who actually OWNS one to answer befor I buy one,
    Iv already checked the speck s and it wasen't too clear

    It has gps with an internal antenna. Very nice unit for the buck.

    Jeremy if it has gps it does not use the paddlewheel for the speedometer ,it uses the gps signal for the speed .an thats a lot more accurite than the paddlewheel is

    No offence,, but ... are you guys guessing, because the specks say that the speed is an option, to buy sepretly. I know that it is a "GPS" mapping system - locator unit..but where does it get it's speed info from?
    a copy of the specks,, note the "OPTIONAL" speed

    please state if you own one , I would like to ask more questions in greater detail.

    Jeremy no i do not own this unit but i own a gps unit an it gets it speed from the sat. signals it recieve an let ytou know where you are an your speed . but i,m sorry for bothering you

    I apoligise if I come across kinda harsh,,In no way are you bothering me.... Im tring all over the diffrent search engines to figer out what the optional speed is,, everyplace seems to have just about the same printed info page'
    anyway ,, it not something I really NEED, just another "toy" to play with, us guys sometimes get finiky about our "toys" ya'know

    We have one on our work boat, that's how I know. The speed reading comes directly from the gps antenna info. A paddle wheel is optional, because some people use them for trolling at slow speed. Have a good day.
