I have a friend who uses chicken liver goo for chum and he says it works well, for eating size cats(mostly channel). Any input?

I dont personally use chum, but it works.

There are some catfish guides from the older BOC days that built their entire business around this strategy.

Everything from range cubes, to holes in dog food cans, to chicken scratch.

Main key was to salt the area with the feed and make it a routine. Just dont give them something to easy to fill up on.

Most of the guides that I know that do this use strictly prepared baits, and its an action based fishing methodology V.S. a size game. Type of water is a big factor on success.

Yes, I was chumming with cut shad yesterday. Caught some nice channels.

I tried it a couple of times, but was not successful. I understand the priciple. Perhaps I will try it again someday. I have heard some very interesting stories related to chumming.

I like to use mashed shad for chum I put it in a cloth bag and weight it down so it will stay put
