Just wondering if people take their batteries into a warm place during the winter months???? Does it prolong their life? Thanks for the info.

I keep mine outside charged or on a float charger. My current battery has been good going on its 5th year.

I've also heard freezing without a full charge will destroy a battery.

I try to always keep mine at least partially charged if they are gonna stay outside and I haven't had any problems yet... On the other hand, I am around heavy equipment all the time, and I have seen plenty of those batteries bust in the winter months. It could have been the caused by other problems though (i.e. bad alternator, bad battery connection, getting jared all day, ect.).

i used to take them out when i first got the boat, then i got lazy and leave them in and haven't had a problem with them for 4 or 5 years now, i always make sure their is a charge on them and in the spring when i uncover the boat the batteries still have a full charge, i leave them in it:big_smile:
