I just wanted to know how many carry a gun and permit(required by law) with them.

I always do i use to go up tionesta Pa to fish near our deer camp. I have ran into everything from bears, mountian cats, copperheads and rattle snakes (Yes for those who don't know there is rattle snakes in PA). So i do carry a 357 with me every trip i go on to keep me safe.

Alot of people who see you think you do it just to look "Cool". Well i always tellem this when your over 40 miles away from a hospital and 3 or 4 hrs away from your car or phone you never can be to safe. You never know what or who you are going to run into out there along the river's.

I carry two, one 22lr ruger and one 40cal glock. You can never be too careful coming back to the boat ramp late, my wife fishes with me regularly so I make sure nothing is going to happen.

I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6....

You are 100% correct. though it might take 8-10 to carry my big ass hehe

I voted yes, though I no longer own a gun so I can't exactly carry one on me now lol. But I used to carry a Ruger .357 Security Six (my old sidearm) in the tacklebox, since I fish at night and it can be kind of dangerous for a woman to be sitting out in the middle of nowhere all alone. I'm not really afraid of wild varmints, but human varmints have caused me more trouble than I care to mention. :teeth:

Now all I carry is a cell phone, a good sharp fillet knife, and my old 'headthumper' (aka police baton). But I keep my head on a swivel and practice good SA at all times; at the first hint of unwelcome "company" I pack up my stuff and scram, stat.

Almost always. Although in the state of NC, you are not permitted (unless you are law enforcement) to have a loaded firearm on the boat landing. Once youre in the water, doesnt matter.
That only applies to NCWRC owned ramps.
Private ramps it would be up to the descretion of the owner.
The federal government has also opened up the national parks to conceal carry.

It aint no big deal though. Aint nobody going to mess with someone toting. They don't know it aint loaded unless you tell em.

It depends on where I am and who I am with. If I am fishing with my favorite fishing partner then no as the both of us are trained Ninja Killers:terror: . If I am fishing alone in Iowa I definately have my Glock .40 cal with me as most of the river rats around here would just as soon kill you and skin you after they have their way with you than to speak to you.Deliverance has nothing on the Iowa river rats.

Only at night, usally a S&W .22 target pistol or my Makarov. I try to avoid any kind of trouble and people as much as possiable. Even if you shoot someone in 100% self defense, your still going to have to go to court and try to "prove" your case, be in the news, get harrassed, etc. Sometimes it's just eaiser to avoid things if at all possible . I had heard a story of a guy fishing on the river when some drunk trash started hassling him, it went back and forth for awhile and the drunk threated to shoot him and showed a gun. The fisherman shot and wounded him then the other went for the gun and he shot and killed him. The drunk told one story and the guy told his story. In the end he paid over $7000 in court cost ,lost his job and got probation. Judge said he could have walked away at any time. So while I refuse to be a victim I'm not a macho "I'll shot you a$$ "type. Most people don't realize how a self denfese shooting is looked at and what it can do to your life.

as a consieled weapon permit {cwp} owner i do make the most of it and carry every where i go and if its not leagal for a gun to be there, then its simple i will not be there.
being that the point of a CWP is to protect your self AND OTHERS there for if ya got one and don't carry or use the cwp as its ment to be then why bother with the paper work and paying the state for it ? i ask my father inlaw all the time if you have your cwp why do you not carry your pistol? the common answer is that the gun is to heavy.

now i have found some times this can be true but when ever i go any where you can count on the glock 21 <--- heavy 13 rnd 45 cal full size this stays either in a holster in my waist band or in my tackle box and a NAA 22mag mini revolver 5 shot tiny gun stays in my boot.

i am not crazy nor do i look for bad stuff to happen but i am ready for wut eva and pitty the foo who brings a knife to my gun fight.

that beign said there is not enough words to describe the peacfull fealing you get knowing that you in the event of a situation with the proper training you have a much grater chance coming out alive .

also with our lovely leaders in office stomping on our rights daily, let me ask you just how SAFE do you feal... with my guns and training i can say that i feal PRETTY DAM SAFE...

and the day i count on the govenment or police to protect me is the day i suck start my revolver... if you got em use em and be safe also its a great idea to teach the wife n kids how to shoot and how to be safe with a gun

Knowledge is the key, definately teach the children and wife about GUN SAFETY. Them knowing that these are not toys and how to use them safely will help them for years to come.

Like Mark said, they don't know its loaded unless you tell them.

Always, last Sat, my bud and I was out, a guy pulled up and came over and told us they were going down the river just a short piece and let thier dogs run, half Shepard and half Pit, yep kept it handy till they left. Plus where we fish you never know whats going to happen, a lot of drunks come out that way, it's a deadend road and no houses around. He said they might try to bluff us, well they would have died if they had, I don't feel like being ate up by two big dogs. I'm only 5'7" and 130lbs, 65 and bunged up.

I guess leaving the auto colt 32 does me no good at all in my bag in the RV.... I imagine that if I went to new places however... I'd keep it in the boat at least....

In the past my boat was kind of like a chinese junk.... Old and funny looking ... no threat or "look like I had some money".....

I have run across some "seedy looking folks" along the rivers... and now with a better looking boat.. Might get some hassle these days....

I think that I'd rather have my double barrel 410 shot gun as a deterrent
