I have been experimenting with secret 7 dip bait from catfish connection over the past few months. The origional blend without the fibers. I will say that it does work. I've caught channels on it up to 10lbs. It's a good alternative when I don't feel like catching bait or handling livers. And if I do have baits that are getting chewed up by undesireable fish I switch over to the 7 and they leave it alone. Has anyone else used dip baits before with success? or the secret 7 with the fibers in it?

Bro. dip baits will work, and channels love it, but to get the full effect, you must have current, the smell travels and the fish comes to it, i find this works for me, hope this helps

Yea it's good stuff and will catch alot bigger fish too:eat:, I use it and some cut bait out when I fish. I have found that some times you have to swap your hook / bait holder up or down some times to get on the bite. :glasses-nerdy:

Ive tried dip bait before and never did a dang thing on it!!! I never tried secret 7 but... still i will never by any more commercial catfish baits!! Ive never done anything on any of them.. I think its so much better and cheaper just to go buy a tub of chicken livers!! Just my opinion tho...

I don't touch that stuff dude!

I'd use hotdogs and nightcrawlers for channels before being around that stuff.

But must admit, dipbait does work. Myself including Romo, were outfished in Santee-Cooper by a kid with a mullet and his dad using dipbait. We were using live & cut herring and bluegills.

I tried it one time against my buddy who was using cutbait as a comparison , it didn't take long to see the cutbait but was better atleast that day, but then again I don't have a mullet either ., maybe that would help who knows ?

I use both Secret 7 and Sudden Impact Fiber bait and just kill em. I also use cut shad as well, some days they want shad other days the dip bait. Fish will hit anything if they are there. If your not getting hit move on just with any of the baits you use.

And that Secret 7 by all means do not get on the car upholstry. The wife is still on my "you know what" as I used her car one day to fish and forgot to remove the hooks to fit the poles in the car. Well one of them had the hook and still a large mess of dip bait on it and it happened to come into contact with the drivers side headrest. Man you can still smell that stuff day after day and it has been 6 weeks and the temps are in the mid 90s. That is not coming out anytime soon.

I personally have never been a fan of buying commercial baits, but its not because they don't work.. I enjoy filling my 5 gal with baitfish, or cutting up some bluegil, or preparing bait.

My experience with baits have always been Sometimes they work, Sometimes they don't. Don't matter if you're using cutbait, livebait, commercial bait, or otherwise.

Secret 7 may work for you really well one day, and then not-so-well the next. If you like the convenience of commercial baits, than take advantage of it, but make sure you have a back-up plan in case the fish aren't biting!

I use Catfish Charlies dip bait every now and then at my favorite channel hole. Works good but seems to attract small bulls and suckers more than channels sometimes. Was thinking of trying it at my favorite flathead bait hole that produces a fair amount of small bulls. I usually soak a crawler on the bottom while filling up on gills but sometimes the bull bite is off. Going to experiment next time this happens =)

Have been researching different types of prepared baits and am going to order some Sure Shot (Catfish Bait - Homemade Catfishing Bait by Benny Roberts) and Danny King (Danny Kings Catfish Bait The World's Best Catfish Bait by Danny King) soon. Will post results then.

I cant stand using dip bait. I feel like a rookie using it and I only catch eaters on it (2lb-4lb). I probably will never use that stuff again in my life. :time-out: Use cut bait!

I think it's fun to experiment and change it up every now and then. Sometimes when the channel bite is off for live or cut or crawlers I get out the dip or dough bait and find myself in the action. Also if I'm feeling nostalgic I may throw a line with it lol. I pretty much exclusively use it as a last resort type deal anymore but always carry some.

I've been fishing for 20+ years and don't feel like a rookie at all when I use it. Some of this stuff has made the difference in a tournament win before (not by me lol, but I read some good stories before when researching baits). Also, most recipes are prepared by hand and sold by the makers themselves. Buying a recipe like this to try out is also supporting our catfishing brethren!
