Difference between 808 and 888 ?

    Is there any real differences between thw newer Zebco 888 Prostaff and 808 Magnum ? Is one better than the other or are they more or less equal ? -Thanks

    i think the 888 holds more line. and is salt water reel.

    Don;t know about the newest ones.For 25+ years the only real difference was the way the drag was actuated.The 808 had a knurled dial type and the 888 has the star.The drag is the same internally on most over the years.There were a very few specially made that were different.peewee-williams

    I just purchased an 808 Magnum. I think Zebco did an upgrade on this model. My new reel has a drag adjustment on the top of the reel like the old ones and not like the star drag on other 808 models. It also has automatic anti-reverse and left or right hand retrieve unlike the old models. It came with 25 pound line and comes off the spool smooth as silk. I like the reel for my bank fishing cause it keeps a lot of sand out of the reel.
