I have a big pool just south of my house it is full of big bullheads from 10 to 12 inches long. Early in the spring before the night crawlers come out deer steak is all I use. They bite it well just not as well as night crawlers. I have never tried it anywhere else but I bet it will work. Its hard fore me to trade deer steak fore bullheads.

Never tried deer but Jack Rabbit hearts and livers work well. Actually all rabbit gut has worked well for me especially paired with a grasshopper tail

if its meat, and its oily, and maybe has a bit of blood in it. I'm sure it would work. Maybe just not as affective.

venison is to precious to waste on a catfish unless it was road kill.

The reason I asked is that I have had good results with deer meat.
7 1/2 lb. channel and other smaller cats.
The meat I use was cut up by a Shi##y proccesser, that I wont use again
    (hair, talon, etc).
    Nice and bloody though.

I cut my own meat most of the time, and there is always some bad cuts for the water:big_smile:

This past fall I used deer meat that I had trimmed off deer steaks to fish for channel cats. I soaked it in garlic juice overnight. I used it 5 trips and it was the top producer on three trips. Blood stinkbait was the next best bait. I was fishing on a small-- 200 acre--- lake.
