Deer Meat As Bait

    Is deer meat any good a bait... my dad has a freezer full of frost bitten meat and didnt want to throw it away ... if we can use it

    I have never used deermeat, but I have heard of people using much "stranger" things. I would give it a try.

    Soak it some garlic salt overnight and I guarantee it will work. Catfish are like me, they will eat any meat if it has garlic on it.:big_smile:

    man its a shame to feed that to the kitties. sounds like someone needs to invest in a foodsaver and start vaccume sealing their fish and game. but with the meat thats already bad I would think it would work just fine for deer meat is farely bloody just might give a good sent trail in a low to mid curent.

    i have used deer meat that was freezer burned and it does work.only prob. is when used in the local rivers the channels have problems beating the snappers to the bait.but it is definitely beats throwing it away.

    Its like chicken liver, the more you sit it out and let it spoil the better bait it is!!!
    Only thing is, you have to have a strong stomach!!!!!!!!!!!:eek:oooh:
