Wondering what seems to be best, day or night fishin.
I seem to notice good strikes in the pre-dawn & dusk hours are best.
    Not much luck in mid-day.
Have any of you folks noticed a difference. What do you prefer.
    Thanks Russ

I prefer night, only because I'm limited to the bank, and it's hard to get where they hold up by day.

Welcome to the BOC and teh catfish don't like light very much, if youa re fishing in a some what clear area i would stick to night fishing, but if it is a river that is murky and dark then day time could produce for you. During the day i have found that the fish are deep adn during the night they come to the shallows for food. Thats just my opinion and what i have encountered in my fishing.

Welcome to BOC . The best time to fish is whenever you can go. I have caught quality fish at all times of the day . If I had to pick what I think are the 2 best times I would say the 1st 3 hrs after dusk , and the 1st 3 hrs after dawn . That does'nt always work out though . But if ya don't have bait in the water , ya can't catch fish , so go when you can.

Ussually night fishing is better or low light conditions, but you can catch them all day most of the time.

    Thanks Billy, that makes sense.
I`ve only done well at night and early morning out here in calif. and was just wondering if being in Missouri would make any difference.Cant wait to get there and try for one of those big blues or flatheads.
The only cats i`ve caught out here were channels 5 lbs. or so.
    Thanks again Russ

    Welcome to the BOC, Russ.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, great bunch of people here.

Since I'm all around catfisherman, it's channels by day and flats by night.

You will find that the catfish will relate to shallow water during the day as well, especially around stumps and downed or drift wood.
