These recipes are from my collection, but were not made by me. Some have been tried by myself but I cannot guarentee any of them at all.
-~-~-~-~-~-Dough Baits-~-~-~-~-~-
Red Dough
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup white can sugar
¾ cup liquefied chicken livers (from the blender)
2-3 cups all-purpose flour
Mix sugar and cornmeal. Mix in liquefied chicken livers. Let mixture sit for 10 minutes. Stir. What this does is makes the sugar stick to the cornmeal and makes a good consistency within the bait. Mix in 1 cup flour. Use your hands to mix in another cup of flour. Take dough out of bowl and put on a flat, floured surface and knead in the third cup of flour. The flour amount is not exact because it depends on the humidity and moisture from livers. The consistency now should be smooth, NOT crumbly.
Stink Sauce
1 pint chicken livers with blood
1 egg
1 ½ cups lard
2 cups flour
1 level teaspoon garlic powder
2 quart jars
Mix livers with blood and egg in the blender until it is liquefied. Pour this into a big mixing bowl. Mix in the lard, flour and garlic powder really good. Fill quart jars half-way up because this bait will expand. Keep it around for 3 days minimum before using at room temp. Stir it before you use it on a sponge.
Horrendous Cheese Bait
1 cup Limburger cheese
1 cup finely ground hamburger
2 tablespoons garlic powder
About ½ cup flour
Blenderize meat to make a thick paste. Mix it with the cheese and garlic. Knead it good. Add enough flour to get a good consistency. Better with treble hooks.
Clam Dough
2 tins clams or clam pieces
¼ cup salt
1 tablespoon cornstarch
½ cup water
1 to 2 cups flour
Blenderize clams to a liquid. Let it sit (outside if you dont want to die) for 3 days. This stinks really bad
it is almost indescribable. Make sure the clams are covered with cloth so flies dont get in it. Mix the ingredients and put on a low heat, stirring until you have a rubbery dough. Knead in more flour for five minutes. Seal (!!!) and store in the fridge.
Trotline Bait
1 cup flour
1 cup yellow cornmeal
¼ teaspoon anise oil (not extract!!)
1 tin sardines packed in oil
In a big bowl, mix the ingredients. Add a little water until a dough like bread dough. Let it rest and get a quart of boiling water going. Pinch off bait-sized balls and drop into the boiling water for 3 minutes. Take out and let them cool.
Hot Dog Dough
1 cup pureed hot dogs
1 cup bran flakes
Combine the ingredients and add water until you have a stiff dough. If it gets thin, add flour. Works with treble hooks.
Twisted Whiskers
1 cup flour
½ cup water
1 can sardines (packed in oil)
1 tablespoon cooking oil
1 teaspoon cram of tartar
¼ cup salt
2 tablespoons flaked fish food
Mix all the ingredients real well and cook on low flame until it is hard to stir. Take out and flatten on cookie sheet to cool it off. Store it in an airtight container and refrigerate if you want.
Kitty Litter
1 cup cottonseed meal
1 cup flour
1 oz. Vanilla
2 teaspoons corn starch
Water
Mix all ingredients but water. Stir in some water to make a stiff batter. Put on low flame and stir it. It will congeal, and become desired texture. Knead in flour for moving water.
Sweetie Bait
1 cup wheat flour
1 cup yellow cornmeal
10 tablespoons thick molasses
Mix everything and add water until it is a stiff dough. Roll it into ¾ balls and drop into boiling water for 10 minutes. Take out and immediately put into cold water. Seal in airtight container and refrigerate.
