Daughters' 1st carp

    This is a pic of my daughter Maygen with her 1st carp. It weighed a little over 3 lbs and she caught it on a crawler.

    If your daughter has problems with eating this first catch, an option that
    I use is to cut the flesh up into 1" cubes preferably with the skin still on
    each piece. Divide these up into sandwich sized sealable bags about ten
    per bag and freeze. These can go along on future trips to go on slightly
    larger hooks for catfish. The head is probably useful on heavy tackle for
    a really large catfish as are the entrails but these take some getting
    used to for most beginning anglers. At least they don't wiggle like worms
    do. One 3lb carp can provide several outings worth of catfish bait and
    I have been told that other species will hit on them as well on days
    when worms don't do as well. I've just caught cats and gar personally.
