i caught a nice 16 pound flathead with my new ocean city baitcaster
i caught some good size shad and like a billion of small ones lol
i threw a 5 inch shad out and like 20 mins later my line was jetting down river i set the hook and i was in for a ride. the baitcaster is old so it didnt have a line guide on it so i have 2 do that with my thumb. it was pretty easy to guide it i got use to it lol
well thanks 2 the guys on here that gave me the info on how to u the baitcaster

The guys that compete in distance csating use reels with no line guide. The line guides cause drag and friction which makes them not cast so far. I have two big baitcasters. A Shimano TLD 10 and an old Quantam Iron 435. Neither one has a line guide. As you say, you get used to guiding the line back on your reel with your thumb.

Glad to hear you caught somethin Mike. I went out Sat and had a good day. Went out again Sunday and caught squat. I might be doing some trout fishing out toward Lexington, VA. Weather is turning.
