has anyone ever used cut carp for blue cats?
i have pretty good luck with big head carp fillets or small live big head carps
Heck yes, Cut Asian Carp is actualy My bait of choice during the dog days of summer!
big head carp for the hot summer days
ya, i've used cut carp quite a bit but haven't since i've relocated back to TN. It's easier for me to get shad or skipjack in TN, so i stick with them. Have had very good success with carp in other places.
What about silver or common carp. What about the guts? Am very curious as there are an abundance behind Carlyle lake in Ill. Lots of shad too but after cutting up forty shad it gets old quick.
carp is great catfish bait. when I was little I knew this old timer that actually use 5 lb carp on his trotlines for flathead.
No i havent but i might try that its good to try something good:big_smile:
That stuff is great if you can get your hands on it. I can't catch them around my place but when I used to live up north that was what we used along with bullheads
steven, i know your question was for blues...the biggest channel i caught was on a filet side of a carp. i have caught some flats on fresh cuts as well. seems to be good bait...and slimy too:lol:
carp is a very oily meat it should work good.
carp does work for good bait for channels too. there are some recipes that people use for preparing carp too. i don't know exactly what they are but one that i sort of remember goes like...cut the carp into chunks and put it in a jar full of water. put it aside for a week or so in order to let it sour then use it. its probably not going to smell good but it might catch you some fish!
come to ky and get all the carp you want. i do a lot of bow fishing to and can get big head an common carp by the truck load.
