was in clarksville this afternoon and decided to run by there on my way home. like john said, water is way low, no skips being caught. a few guys were throwing a cast net and only getting a couple 4 inch shad per throw. drove over to the boat ramp and what looked to be the same size, 4 inch or so shad were hitting the top of the water. not looking good right now for skips.

Skippys were thick in cumberland today. Caught plenty to use next weekend.

Talk to a guy that was there all day. He said he caught them all day and gave them away to random people. I got there about 1 or 2 and it was pretty slow until about 3:30 to dark I was catching them on every cast. They seemed to be more out torwards the river. Not many were being caught up close to the plant.

I read on the Kentucky board a few days ago that frozen skipjack were bringing an outrageous price. Something like $2.50 apiece. I can buy live 8" to 9" rainbow trout for $2.25 each.

I made the long drive out to C city yesterday. I couldn't get one to strike.
5 Hrs. of driving and not a skip. I figured with the cold weather they would be in there.

I hear they're getting scarce up here, too. Since Bull Run and Kingston steam plants are down for upgrades, there won't be any warm water this winter. Those are two (or were) of the best catfishing holes around.

Guys sounds like you may not be fishing deep enough? That or need to slow the retrieve way down and also get the jig or jigs deeper in the water. At times you have to get deeper.
Hope they get started good. I need to make the 3 hour drive one way and fill a freezer up . Also I always have better luck with Bright Sun Shine Days Even at Pickwick there harder to catch when the sun is not shinning..
