Yesterday my friend went scouting getting ready for Saturdays opening. he ran into a game warden that had a deer on the ground. My friend started getting on him for poaching. It turns out that the young buck had jumped through the closed window of a nearby old folks home. Breaking and entering!! The old folks locked the buck in a room and called the warden. He came and tranquilized it. My friend ran into him while he was waiting for the drugs to wear off. It finally got up and ran off down the mountain. LOL

Sounds like the young buck wanted a challenge. I guess it probably saw its' reflection in the glass window and attacked it. I heard of this happening alot during the pre and rut phases of deer activity. Des Moines, Iowa has this happen alot. I saw a news clip of a buck breaking through a glass door and running through the aisles of the shopping center. It never knocked anything down, just ran and was later escorted out of the place. It was a small buck too. Amazing that deer adapt to heavy populated areas like Des Moines, Iowa. Last year, my wife's aunt who lives in Olathe, KS, had a big doe in her back yard. This deer was well within city limits of the town. Highly populated area and the deer was there around 7:00 a.m. in the morning. This happened almost exactly a year ago to the date. We was down there for the nascar races in late September.

A few years ago four of them jumped through the window of a pizza place here in Roanoke and trashed the place. Several years ago I was working at a food processing plant. When I went to the engine room, which was so loud you couldn't go in without ear plugs, there was a spike buck standing in there just checking things out. LOL

I'm a total believer that deer have split personalities. I watched a hunting show, that had the hunter hunting near a nuclear power plant. The noise that was generated by the plant had to be ear splitting, but the deer didn't act nervous at all. But on the flip side, hunt a deer on a quite day with no wind and they can hear a pin drop at a 100 yds. away. Crazy how they adapt to there enviroments.

Years ago while touring with a rock band we stopped for the night at a lake in No.Cal. We got up the next morning and there was a buck outside the RV. I walked up and got within 2 feet before it bolted. No other people around so I dont know if it was hand fed or just dumb.

Man, I do not think I could hold myself back from really rubbing it in to that warden. I'd have, tongue in cheek, tore into him.

The funniest one I've heard of was about 10 years ago. A black man was driving down Rt. 29 out of Lynchburg, Va. when he hit a nice buck. Thinking about a freezer full of steaks, he dragged the deer into the back seat of his Cadillac. A few minuted later the stunned buck came back to life and jumped into the front seat. The guy got out and called 911. They played the censored call on the local news. It went something like this. "Man you got to get someone out here! Son of B#$%h! The F#$@ing deer is tearing my car all to he!!, He!! no, it ain't in the road, it's in my G-- Damn car! Yea, motherf---er, in the car! No it ain't dead. It busted my window. I need a cop out here NOW. " LOL

About three - four or so years ago on Halloween a doe jumped thru a houses picture window down the street and cut itself pretty bad and had to be put down. I cant imagine coming home to a mess like that.
