I was just wondering if useing Crawdads was good to catch nice size cats!
Depends on how you use em. I like to hook em in the tail on a float about 6-8 inches off the bottom and let em drift
I tried them a few times all I could catch were carp. One big bass an a few small bass.
I love them for channels early in the year. They're good for about anything, especially around rocks and riprap. i talked to a guy the other day that was using them on his set lines and caught a 70# blue on one. Like Catfish says, most fish love them so you may catch a lot of other fish along with the cats.
Crawdads are a very good catfish bait.I used a great biggun on a trotline one time and caught a 9 lb flathead.I always go by what my grandpaw used to say,"The bigger the bait, the bigger the fish".
I agree they are great for channels.:0a23:
caught some decent flatties on em...nothin to big but some nice keepers
I've agree with others, Crawdads are good bait.
Yes Crayfish is a good bait for all cats:smile2:
I use crawdad all the time. never caught anything huge but some nice fish.
Around here on the ohio river the drum perch won't leave them alone long enough for anything else to get them.
I once caught a 7lb. large mouth bass on a rebel crawdad crankbait.
I had some bang crawdad spray that smelled alot like rootbeer couldn't tell much diference when using it but if it covers other bad scent's I guess it can't hurt.
We use crawdads here all the time never caught anything on them but have heard of alot of people using them and catching alot on them. Maybe I don't hook them right.
Crawdads can be a very good bait. Give them a try!
one of the largest channel cats I caught was on a crawdad
