Hey guys im thinking about going to the river in morning and i bought some soft shell crawdads at a nearby bait shack. just wondering if they are good bait, how you hook em, and what you've caught off of them if you have used them.

They are very good bait to use. I usually hook them twice thru the tail or once thru the body. I have only caught channel catfish and frshwater drum. Never caught a ba$$. I know in the waters that I fish the drum get to them before any other species can.

Good to put em on a float, if not they are still alive they will craw under a rock. Good luck with em.

We use to catch them when I was a kid and use them to fish the canal and the river. They are a good catfish bait, but like anything else it depends on the fish at the time.

Hook that little dude right back where the tail starts. It's good advise to keep him suspended too. I never had any major results using them but I sure would use them again if nothing else I had was working.
