Went out this morning before breakfast to do a little crappie fishing. Crappie was slow, only caught a couple then this little fellow hit. I had a great 10 minutes getting him in using a light crappie spinning rod/reel, 4 lb line and a small crappie hook with a little red minnow. :)
    7lbs 4oz.

Nice fish. I love catching fish like that on ultra-lite gear, it feels like you are fighting a whale.

That's a nice fish. I know that one put up a tussle on ultra-light. Cut that red streak out of 'em, chunk it up, roll it in meal, then yum, yum. Thanks for sharing. :0a31:

Wow, 4 # test! Your lucky that striper didn't strip all your line, striper are much stronger than largmouth bass. Compare the tail fins of the two and you'll see why.

Dang I bet that was one heck of a fight on that light tackle! Thats always fun using that light tackle especially when something like that hits! Good job on the fish though thats an accomplishment to catch a striper like that on 4lb test.

 "That's a nice one"!

The Stripers in my area (San Francisco Bay Area), are on a run right now. The ones that we are getting are about that size, give-or-take a pound or two. :)

    Take Care,

Now that had to be a blast. My buddy TA2D seems to allways catch large carp and drum on his ultralight. He'll fight those fish for what seems like hours getting them in.

That a great catch. I fish Microlight and love it. Any fish caught thats of any size is a real battle. I have caught cats on 1/64 oz jigs and had a blast trying to get em in. Fun thing about fishing, you never know whats at the end of the line till you get to the end of the line.
