I know people who have done well with live crappie, I have had poor luck with them.

I do better for Flatheads with crappie than gills or bullheads.

Its not legal to use crappie as bait in Missouri but a good replacement is a green or longear sunfish they stay alive much longer and are much more active.

Legal in OK, and just like us guys, flats love to eat crappie. When I am crappie fishing and hook an undersized crappie of about 6", I drop it in the livewell for jug fishing.

They are illegal to use as bait in Minnesota, but I bet they would work wonderfully!

flatties love them and I have caught blues with small live ones if they are over 5 inches long I use them for cut bait. they are legal in sc as long as they are caught on a rod and reel, but you cant have over your limit.
